We have decided to extend the deadline for applications for financial support of your Acta Physiologica Symposia (AP symposia) to March 31st. You can apply if your symposium is arranged in a Nordic country and if the speakers submit their communications for publication in Acta Physiologica. The symposium should be held in the time period October 1st 2012-September 30th 2013.
Applications should be sent to the Secretary General of SPS, prof. Bryndis Birnir, who will forward them to the board of trustees (Stiftelsen Nordisk Fysiologi).

Our colleagues in Copenhagen have now released the program for this year’sĀ Ion Channel Symposium. The topics this year is “Ion channels in arrythmia”, “Ion channels in metabolic disease”, “Calcium channels in health and disease” and “Posttranslational modifications”. If you are a member of SPS, from now on you can also apply for a travel grant to any smaller physiological meeting or symposium in one of the Nordic countries. Note that the grant will be a maximum of 2 000 SEK and that it is only possible to get one grant in addition to the annual meeting each year. Unfortunately, the Finnish Endocrine Society decided to move their annual meeting to the end of October 2012. Therefore, the organizing committee of the SPS annual meeting in Helsinki decided to go back to the original meeting time in August. The SPS meeting will now take place 24th to 26th of August.

The next FEPS meeting will be held together with the Spanish Physiological Society in Santiago de Compostela in Spain, September 8-11, 2012. The call for submitting symposia suggestions is now open.
